Luckily for you, a guided tour with one of our experts is the perfect way to discover them for yourself! Come and explore one of Melbourne’s best nocturnal wildlife watching locations and take the opportunity to come across some of the denizens of the night!

Whether it’s a Common Wombat foraging around for food, a Krefft’s Glider gliding from tree to tree, the incredibly camouflaged Tawny Frogmouth, or the largest owl in the Southern Hemisphere, the Powerful Owl… There’s plenty of incredible moments with wildlife out there just waiting for you to come and experience them on one of our Life Gone Wild: After Dark spotlighting tours!

  • Banyule Flats Reserve, Viewbank

    5pm - 8pm Sunday May 26th

    Hidden away along the Yarra River, Banyule Flats has PLENTY to offer for nocturnal wildlife spotting along easy to walk trails. Target species include Krefft’s Glider, Tawny Frogmouth, Wombat, Ringtail Possum, Brushtail Possum, and more!

  • Yarra Ranges National Park, Healesville

    5pm - 8pm Saturday June 1st

    5pm - 8pm Saturday June 22nd

    5pm - 8pm Saturday July 20th

    5pm - 8pm Saturday August 17th

    This wet forest location provides a totally different experience to our tours closer to Melbourne. Target species include the Southern Greater Glider, Yellow-Bellied Glider, Krefft’s Glider, and the enigmatic Sooty Owl.

  • Westerfolds Park, Templestowe

    5pm - 8pm Saturday June 8th

    One of Melbourne’s best kept secrets, Westerfolds Park is one of our favourite locations for wildlife watching. Target Species include Tawny Frogmouth, Krefft’s Glider, Australian Owlet-Nightjar, Wombat, and more!

What will the tour look like?

The majority of our Nocturnal Spotlighting Tours will look like this*:

  • 19:30 - Arrival and briefing from Tour Leader

  • 19:45 - Start of Guided Outing

  • 23:15 - Tea, coffee, and species run down

  • 23:00 - End of Tour

* Times are dependent on the time of sunset at the time of year and will be confirmed upon booking.

Our targets include a variety of incredible species, including our Owls, Tawny Frogmouths, Australian Owlet Nightjars, Krefft’s Gliders, Common Ringtail and Brushtail Possums, and more!
